Review by Horn Book Review

The picture book series highlighting Zodiac personality characteristics--now including Chinese text (not evaluated) alongside the English--completes the lunar calendar. Ray the rooster and his human friend Ying search for the legendary Phoenix (not a Zodiac animal) and meet many traditional animals along the way. The story drags, and its slick, cartoonish illustrations don't reflect the story's Chinese influences. (c) Copyright 2018. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
