Review by Booklist Review

Ana and her classmates start off on a scavenger hunt, known as the Cosmic Race, through space and time. The first to collect all the Laslo Gems is declared the winner; Ana is determined to win, but quickly finds her feelings for two male competitors, Keio and Ekene, might interfere with her plans. Ana is certainly not the strongest of heroines, as her adventures can often only progress when her male friends either save her or point her in the right direction. And her motivations are sometimes stereotypical; at one point in the race, she says to herself, I need to keep my head in the game. I can't keep getting distracted by boys. (Groan.) Missteps aside, it is enjoyable to see where Ana's fast-paced adventure takes her, and to see which boy she might end up falling for. Kane's illustrations add to the bubblegum feel, with a pop manga-character design and a bright color scheme to accompany it. Mindless space fun.--Blenski, Peter Copyright 2017 Booklist
