Mr. Panda (Please, Mr. Panda) distributes less-than-perfect gifts to his friends. Lemur advises "it's the thought that counts." Mr. Panda repeats that advice when giving Lemur too-big underpants. This gratitude lesson is muddled: everyone looks disappointed; and it's a mystery why Elephant, who "opens it later," gets doughnuts (seen on the back endpapers).
