Review by Booklist Review
The guiding principle behind the Master Math series (4 titles) is that it uses the leading Singapore math approach moving from concrete to pictorial to abstract thought to teach curricular basics and foster problem-solving abilities. This title, a blend of key concepts, questions, and illustrations, aptly demonstrates and applies the concepts of measurement, comparison, sequence, and money. The examples are appropriate, straightforward, and well supported by illustrations; however, the text is very dense. Many pages are too busy, including multiple illustrated activities. Parent-teacher notes and materials are mixed together with child-friendly material, raising questions about the actual audience for the book. Tips from a cartoon pangolin lighten the tone slightly. This book seems more like a teaching aid than a read-through, but it contains useful math resources for parents and teachers.--Aronin, Miriam Copyright 2018 Booklist

Review by Horn Book Review
Clear and colorful, these introductory math books feature hands-on and picture-based activities using the Singapore math approach, in which children progress from concrete to pictorial to abstract understanding of concepts. The content is engaging and pedagogically progressive; many important activities (especially those requiring manipulatives) are described in "Parent and Teacher Guidance" sections, making the series best suited for classroom or homeschool use.
