Little moments of love

Catana Chetwynd

Book - 2018

It began with a chat about the mere-exposure effect in psychology, and became Chetwynd's internet comic series about following John around, trying to encounter him more. They're fueled by love, silliness, ponytail bears, finger guns, and good ol' snuggling-- and you just might find yourself (and your significant other) in the pages of this book. -- adapted from author's introduction.

Review by Library Journal Review

Chetwynd's popular webcomic chronicles moments from her life with boyfriend John. The artist began illustrating their daily encounters after a conversation about mere-exposure effect, and Chetwynd following John around "trying to encounter him more." The result is a charming record of appreciations and moments of closeness. With 1.5 million Instagram followers, Chetwynd has many fans who likely find themselves in these silly and heartwarming autobiographical sketches. The soft curves and exaggerated eyes of her characters make them easy to love. The popularity and reception of Philippa Rice's Soppy, another webcomic-turned-book that captures snapshots of sharing one's life with another, prove readers identify with the quirks of close relationships. VERDICT For love birds and romantics, those with a fondness for snuggling, and beard enthusiasts. The positivity and good humor will speak to all who see the cup as half full. However, those covetous of personal space, beware.-Faithe Ruiz, Coll. of Central Florida, Ocala © Copyright 2018. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
