Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 2-5-Based on the mobile app game from Halfbrick Studios, this hilarious and adventure-filled graphic novel tells the story of four young fruit ninjas. After Seb, Peng, Niya, and Ralph learn the ancient art of Juice Jitsu (a martial art involving fruit slicing), they find themselves battling an ancient foe who has traveled through time to extinguish the young masters. Relying on their newfound skills and fruit, they face this villain with courage and humor. This is a great pick for reluctant readers and those who want to make the jump from beginning readers to chapter books. Each page has a limited number of panels that showcase well-placed word bubbles. The illustrations clearly convey action and the passage of time. Bright and solid artwork will help graphic novel newcomers acclimate to the format. VERDICT A strong pick for -gamers, graphic novel novices, and reluctant -readers.-Maryjean Bakaletz, Morris County -Library, Whippany, NJ © Copyright 2018.
