Adriana knows her guardian angels protect her at all times. Her faith in God helps Adriana deal with simple day-to-day events and major life changes, like needing to flee her home country of Colombia and make a new home in Chicago. Goring tells a familiar story of immigrants and refugees by focusing on religion as something children can hold on to in perilous times. Young readers will be captivated by Goring's easy-to-understand language and the positive message reinforced throughout the text. Meza's use of vibrant colors and meticulous detail in her illustrations will make young readers look closely at the story. Through this text, published in English as Adriana's Angels, educators will have an opportunity to discuss the significance of religion in Latinx communities and the history of missionaries in Latin America.--Sonia Alejandra Rodríguez Copyright 2018 Booklist
