Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Cauchon, whose Domestic Geek YouTube channel has 1.5 million subscribers, assembles more than 85 recipes in this enjoyable debut cookbook designed "to make life in the kitchen easier." Cauchon presents a simplified approach to cooking with quick recipes and includes weekly meal planning that balances super foods with treats. Recipes feature popular though predictable healthy foods and cooking styles in the form of smoothies (creamy orange), wraps (mango and shrimp), pita pizzas, and grain bowls; it's no surprise that kale, cauliflower, and quinoa figure prominently. However, cooks can vary dishes using creative "mix it up" and "simple swaps" suggestions (tuna can be swapped for salmon in the poke bowl). One-pot pasta dishes include creamy chicken Alfredo, and convenient sheet pan suppers feature halibut with green beans, tomatoes, and olives. There are weekly "meal prep musts" and planning tricks such as frozen bagged "smoothie packs." Her recommendations for essential kitchen appliances include a blender and food processor to help "maximize efficiency and minimize effort," and she lists condiments for pantry and fridge to keep on hand. This down-to-earth guide to getting healthy home-cooked meals onto the table quickly will delight time-pressed home cooks. (Apr.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
