The visual MBA Two years of business school packed into one priceless book of pure awesomeness

Jason Barron

Book - 2019

"Jason Barron spent 516 hours in class, completed mountains of homework and shelled out tens of thousands of dollars to complete his MBA at the BYU Marriott School of Business. Along the way, rather than taking boring notes that he would never read (nor use) again, Jason created sketch notes for each class--visually capturing the essential points of his education--and providing an engaging and invaluable resource. Once finished with his MBA, Jason launched a successful Kickstarter campaign distilling these same notes into a self-published book to help aspiring business leaders of all backgrounds and income levels understand the critical concepts one learns in business school. Whether you are thinking about applying to business school, ...are currently in college studying business,or have always wondered what is taught in an MBA program, this book is for you"--

Review by Booklist Review

Designer and product-strategist Barron illustrates his two-year journey, 2015-17, in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Brigham Young University. This graphic-heavy sketchbook captures his visual depictions and interpretations of major ideas, concepts, processes, and theories in the academic business curriculum, which is most often wrought with memorizing policies, analyzing data, and crunching numbers. It makes for an offbeat, appealing, and helpful path to understanding the jargon, terms, and acronyms heard in business classes or settings. Although it can't be substituted for a foundational text to prepare for a business career, this is still an entertaining and engaging read, and it can be perused leisurely and quickly. Readers thinking about applying to MBA programs will find it useful, as will those interested in visually exploring complex topics like strategic HR management, managerial accounting, and business negotiations.--Raymond Pun Copyright 2019 Booklist
