A second round of food-themed shenanigans (Recipe for Disaster, 2019) sets cookie maestro Koko Dodo against both a capitalistic robot baker out to corner the cookie market, and a giant eel monster that threatens to chow down on the entire town. Leave it to Koko Dodo's roller-skating bird-with-a-plan sidekick Didi Dodo to engineer a clever scheme to pit the two outsize threats against each other first by reprogramming Robo Dodo to mass produce a new cookie (recipe included, almost certainly not author-tested) and then feeding the monster all it can eat. But what will happen if the ingredients run out? Never above an artful bit of product placement, Angleberger trots in Inspector Flytrap, Nina the goat, and obnoxious Horse G. Horse, president of the U.S., for cameos from the previous chapter book series that inspired this uncommonly daffy new spin-off. Finished versions of Chapman's frequent cartoons and occasional sequential panels not seen.--John Peters Copyright 2019 Booklist
