Review by Booklist Review

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brezezinski and her sister-in-law Ginny build on their Know Your Value women's empowerment conference brand to advise women who are, at mid-life, returning to work after a pause or pivoting to a new career. The book is aimed at a certain demographic (educated professional women in their forties, fifties, and beyond), but it will prove invaluable to that segment of job seekers. The authors use their own journeys and those of other women to illustrate how to get back into the job market. They discuss ways to update skills, construct a powerful résumé, combat ageism, and explain a career pause in a positive light. They advise on using social media to network and effectively job search. They then share interview pointers and negotiation tactics. They also include the pros and cons of contract or gig work. They conclude the book with helpful resources and further reading suggestions. Woven throughout is encouragement for women who have been out of the job market, and how to realize and best market their value.--Caren Nichter Copyright 2020 Booklist
