Bill Blass, couturier to a coterie of loyal ladies who lunch was the first American designer to achieve superstardom. It’s a long way from Fort Wayne to Seventh Avenue but it was a journey that Bill Blass always knew he would make. At age 17 Blass came to New York and began his career on Seventh Avenue. Not long after starting work as a sketcher, World War two broke out. Bill Blass ltd would go on to become a branding powerhouse with Mr. Blass at the helm for more than 30 years.
