Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Holub's latest board book primer introduces youngest readers to a diverse international cast of 10 "little environmentalists"--including Indian scholar and food sovereignty advocate Vandana Shiva and Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg--who serve the Earth by "making air and water clean" and "keeping forests green." Each verso page features a large-eyed digital caricature of the figure by Roode; a rhyming quatrain biography is presented beneath in a white serif font against a bright monochrome background. A full-body portrait and individualized setting appears for each, with a few simply worded sentences of biographical information in a banner. A concluding spread features single-sentence biographies of 17 other "Earth heroes." The cartoon-style portrayals bear only passing resemblance to their subjects, but this boldly colored educational read offers useful information for budding conservationists. Ages 3--5. (Feb.)

PreS--A new addition to Holub's series honoring groundbreaking figures, past and present, this book features rhyming descriptions paired with detailed tidbits about ten diverse people whose work helped the environment. More friendly portraits of individuals appear in the back, with a final cheer to encourage personal care for the Earth.
