The key to lifestyle changes, according Khidekel, the content director for Thrive Global, is to stack up "microsteps," tiny, easy-to-do habits. Thrive Global was founded by Arianna Huffington, who also launched the Huffington Post. This book could have easily become merely an ad for the company, but it's not. Instead, it's a clear, sensible statement of the group's core theories. Chapters are devoted to key areas that young professionals and others will strongly relate to: sleep, technology, nutrition, movement, focus, creativity, and purpose. Huffington pens her thoughts on the topic and then Khidekel takes over. She describes symptoms of burnout, shares stories, suggests several small changes that could make big differences (e.g., writing three goals before bedtime, swapping soda for water, doing a five-minute meditation) and ends with thought-provoking questions and an excerpt from a "Microstep Diary." Scattered throughout the text are quotes from celebrities and successful business people who have successfully implemented the recommended microsteps. The suggestions aren't earth-shattering, but they do offer practical, doable steps to get you started in the right direction.
