Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-K--When the members of the Esnaola family get upset or just plain angry, they spit out a ball. If something is misplaced, if there are items left on the floor, if food is not ready, out comes another ball. Eventually, the balls join together and become one, trapping the members of the Esnaola family together. The giant ball rolls them out of the house and stops in front of a river. Seeing their reflections in the water, the family is shocked to see angry faces reflected back at them. Instead of grumbling, they finally laugh and take a moment to enjoy the day together. Burin uses different hues strategically. Purple tones that cover the Esnaola home are left behind as the family bounces down an orange hill under a bright white sky. The small balls join together into a giant red one, reflecting the anger and screams that the family releases. The illustrations comically depict the family arguing over silly things, and together with the narrative present a kid-friendly way to discuss anger with young children. The short, expressive Spanish text is sure to bring on some giggles and makes this a great choice for reading aloud. VERDICT A fun addition to Spanish picture book collections, especially where there's a need for SEL titles.--Selenia Paz
