Noble's latest (after Imagine Summer, 2021) is filled with family, love, and heartache, all told in front of the beautiful backdrop of a small beach town. Pheobe Adams is a journalist who is doing less writing and more administrative work in order to keep her beloved local newspaper, Weekly Sentinel, afloat. Phoebe is also planning her wedding to Gavin, who inherited the newspaper. All in all, it's not a bad life, but still, there is something just not right. Then, without a word to Pheobe, Gavin announces that he is closing shop on the Sentinel and everyone is terminated, effective immediately. Pheobe decides that Gavin is not the man she thought he was, and ends up on a journey of self-discovery. Accompanied by her mom, who is also figuring out her next chapter in life, she returns to Granna's house on Summer Island. The cast of supporting characters are kind and relatable, and each brings their own unique backstory. Readers who like Kristan Higgins will gravitate to this thought-provoking beach read.
