The stone king

The Stone King, after whom this comic is named, is a huge roaming creature of stone. It's so gigantic, in fact, that moss with healing magic grows on its upper body. The giant lives in peace within the city of Stoneport, thanks to laws and beliefs that limit their interactions--that is, until Ave, a poor thief-in-training with dreams of another life, decides to illegally harvest some of that moss. Stumbling upon an enormous gemstone near the moss, Ave inadvertently puts the entire city in peril, and now she, along with an unlikely companion and her faithful familiar, must put things right. Creators McDonald and Crook do a masterful bit of world building in this relatively short comic, with expressive watercolor-and-ink artwork depicting sweeping landscapes and background conversations with the locals, that will leave the reader hoping for more--but satisfied should it never come.
