What starts as a temporary favor turns into a cross-country road trip, opening both men's eyes to the complicated world around them. Hyde (Dreaming of Flight, 2022) brings her signature empathy and insight into the emotionally fraught world of end-of-life care, as Chester's terminal cancer diagnosis makes him weaker by the day. Fans of Erica Bauermeister and Jan Karon will appreciate Hyde's deft handling of the contrast between Chester's vulnerability and Lewis' emerging talents as a caretaker.
