Review by Publisher's Weekly Review
TV personality Bosworth, of Laguna Beach and The Hills fame, shares the inspiration behind her company, Love Wellness, in this vibrant primer on personal health and well-being. Burnt out from overwork and "stuck in a revolving door of doctors' appointments and therapy sessions," Bosworth decided to dedicate herself to women's health advocacy and here guides readers through how to have a "happy gut," "happy brain," and "happy vagina." Her five-week plan involves cutting back on caffeine, gluten, and alcohol; incorporating breathing exercises, dry brushing one's skin, and eating more fruits and vegetables; and getting quality sleep and at least 20 minutes of exercise per day. A recipe section features 25 of Bosworth's go-to meals, including a breakfast salad with quinoa and arugula, classic meatballs, "ranch replacement dressing" starring avocado mayo and unsweetened almond milk, and chocolate cupcakes that use gluten-free cassava flour. The information Bosworth presents isn't groundbreaking--the "Dirty Dozen" and "Clean Fifteen" lists for organic produce are old news--but her presentation is motivating, and the self-assessments and chapter-ending to-do lists will help readers put her plan into action. Bosworth's fans will find these tips worth returning to. (Dec.)
