Review by Library Journal Review

This is a useful guide for anyone interested in using their iPhone for photography. While the authors--the Canada-based creators and photographers behind CameraBro, the viral TikTok and Instagram accounts--used iPhone 11 and 13 Pro for the photos, they are quick to mention that the guide can be used on various smartphone models by beginning and intermediate photographers, although readers may not find all the referenced features on their own phones. But no additional equipment is needed, and the techniques are simple enough to immediately execute. There are lots of tips for getting started, selecting the aspect ratio of the image, using "Live" mode, locking focus, and (if using a newer model) choosing a lens. Using sunlight, backlighting, the direction of light, shadows, and nighttime light for taking photos are all clearly explained, with images for clarification. Composition and framing are also explained, and there is a detailed chapter on portrait photography, including selfies. The dos and don'ts of taking portraits are extremely useful and specific, especially for beginners. The book also includes 20 photo challenges. VERDICT This is a short, detailed, easy-to-read book filled with great photographs as examples. Perfect for readers looking to take their iPhone photography up a few notches.--Whitney Bates-Gomez
