"It's the week before her wedding, and all of Eliza's meticulous planning is about to pay off. She's become the exact type of woman who would marry into the prominent blue-blooded Walker family--Ivy League credentials, a high-powered PR job and a designer-label wardrobe. But as the big day approaches, secrets from Eliza's past attendance at an Evangelical college start to throw her true motives into question. Who exactly is Eliza Bennet and what does she really want?" --

Eliza Bennett is about to have her dream wedding. She's lined everything up exactly the way it's supposed to be: handsome groom, beautiful setting, gorgeous gown, moneyed in-laws. She's even ensured that the New York Times "Vows" section will be there to cover her nuptials. Everything she's planned will come off without a hitch. She also has a very good reason for planning this wedding. It isn't about getting married, though. No one knows the real Eliza. She is the daughter of Christian zealots, raised in a cult and educated at a draconian religious college. Her enviable life in NYC is all a front. The PR job, the icy friendships, even her perfect body are carefully crafted to cover up her own past and create the ideal circumstances for her future. In her second novel (after Smile and Look Pretty, 2021), Pellegrino guides the reader through a taut and unexpected thriller. The whip-smart dialogue and pop-culture references are just the backdrop for a tight and completely surprising story of revenge and love. A great read for fans of haves- vs. have-nots thrillers like The Social Creature, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and even The Secret History. Sharp, startling, sophisticated.

Pellegrino follows up the LJ-starred Smile and Look Pretty with dreamer-schemer Eliza Bennett set to marry upper-crust Graham Walker after pommeling her way into Manhattan high society and a top PR job. But word about shady doings in her evangelical-college past makes her friends start wondering who Eliza really is--and what she wants.
