Review by Booklist Review

This is a lively burst of body positivity and self-acceptance. Hara focuses on her own experiences with her journey to learning to love her own body, detailing her past with disordered eating. She also highlights how fashion trends and social media celebrating plus-size bodies enabled her to move forward, and how her artwork has helped others who struggle with body image. Complete with commentary on media, an examination of societal expectations for women, in particular, to look a certain way, and an interview with Japanese plus-size model Nao Yoshino, this manga is a primer on starting to embrace one's own body. Hara's artwork is a celebration of broken stereotypes and is incredibly cute. Affirming and effervescently positive, this is the manga companion to The (Other) F Word: A Celebration of the Fat & Fierce (2019), edited by Angie Manfredi. Readers will leave this manga feeling affirmed, positive, and seen.
