PreS-Gr 2--A simple, easy-to-read tale about the blue bird's desire to create a delicious beverage to share with friends. Really Bird discovers a lemon tree in the park he calls home and convinces his two pals, Cat and Rabbit, to assist him as he reads the recipe for lemonade out loud. After using a bit of math and following the five steps required to make the drink, the trio spends time taste testing to ensure the flavor is just right. Upon discovering they've made more than they can drink, others are invited to quench their thirst after the hard work of picking up litter in the park. Speech bubbles denote the conversations throughout the dialogue-driven story. The work is colorfully illustrated, with various sized vignettes showcasing the variety of animals working together to beautify the park they share. Some challenging words are interspersed throughout, such as optional, juice, recipe, unique, dissolve, and recycling. VERDICT The value of cooperation, teamwork, thoughtfulness, and sharing with friends are all important themes revealed in this entertaining and engaging story.--Maryann H. Owen
