Review by Library Journal Review

Known for her Food Network show, pastry chef and instructor Bullock-Prado (Fantastical Cakes) delivers an ode to her home state of 20 years, which wows with its bakes but has much more to give. The chapters are seasonal and vary from recipes she serves at home or in her bakery, based on available ingredients. The "stick season" chapter will have readers rethinking everything they have ever served for Thanksgiving, and of course, no Vermont cookbook would be complete without a sugaring chapter, full of heavenly maple syrup-based recipes. Illustrations range from beautiful environmental photography of Bullock-Prado in the company of her goose and other charming country tableaus, to artfully delectable food photography. Throughout, readers will find chances to learn more about Bullock-Prado's culinary journey, the many rich food traditions of Vermont, and her adventures there. Recommended for the armchair traveler looking for a culinary journey and for the home chef who wants to create their own Vermont table. VERDICT This is an utterly charming title that delivers a sense of place with its beauty and narrative, but its wow factor comes from Bullock-Prado's recipes, which are pure Vermont.--Sarah Tansley
