Kate Otterstrom

Book - 2023

"Whether you only have twenty minutes or an hour-or something in between-you can deliver a delicious entrée and side dish to the table with these quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing recipes. Organized by 'available time' rather than by 'kind of dish,' this unique cookbook is designed to help the time-conscious cook with dinner planning. Since Kate is gluten-intolerant herself, each recipe also includes instructions on how to adapt it for a gluten-free option, along with a dedicated space for you to jot down notes for additional variations" --

Review by Booklist Review

Readers attempting to balance cooking with work and parenting, and anyone looking to save time in the kitchen (i.e., most everyone) will appreciate blogger and home cook Otterstrom's adjustable-length recipes, which include ample gluten-free options. Organized by the time it takes to cook a dish, rather than by type of dish, the book allows readers to start with the amount of time on hand. Her list of every tool readers will need when using this cookbook is useful. Recipes are about one page long and organized in a chart format, with ingredients listed next to the step in which they are used--a visual method that could make cooking faster and easier. Though mostly aimed at busy parents, the book offers plenty of recipes that all readers can enjoy, like pancakes with homemade syrup and smoky carrots, slow cooker strata with green salad, and green and gold bean stew. A collection gem for kitchen time-savers.
