Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-K--Detrick-Jules first celebrated the natural beauty of Black hair in her adult photo and interview book, My Beautiful Black Hair, and carries the message to the youngest audience in this delightful board book. The book features photographs of real children and compares the shape, style, and texture of their hair to various wonders of nature with rhyming text. Examples include "My hair is like a waterfall, rushing toward the ground" and "My hair is like a river, winding all around." The nature pages adjacent to the photos of the children are simplistically but colorfully illustrated. Babies and toddlers will love looking at other toddlers and their hairstyles. VERDICT Recommended for all board book shelves.--Carrie Voliva
