There's a good chance you've picked this book because you've fallen in love with granny stitch and want to see what else you can do with it. Granny stitch is a fun and versatile stitch pattern that can be used in a variety of ways. It is usually one of the first stitches people learn because it's quick, easy and produces a lovely vintage look. However, it can be made to look modern if you take a fresh approach to the colours and patterns used.
Granny stitch is worked using groups of three treble crochet stitches all worked into the same space. It can be worked in lots of different shapes, but in this book we will be working it in straight rows, or in joined rows called rounds. Granny stitch is worked into the spaces between groups, rather than into the stitches, which makes it quick to crochet, and produces a slightly thicker fabric than regular stitches, which is why we'll only be using double knitting (DK) or 4 ply (fingering) weight yarn for these projects.
