Takashima brings this lovely guidebook for kids (or artists of all ages) who want to get a handle on drawing manga-style characters. She breaks everything down into shapes and patterns that make the process easy for beginners to understand and gain confidence in their drawing skills, isolating every part of the drawing with a variety of options and details. She even tackles the subject of drawing hands, choosing three simple gestures to master before moving on to more detailed poses. The book is peppered with QR codes linking to tutorial videos and templates for more drawing practice. Hand this thoughtfully put-together primer, part of the Learn Manga with Misako series (2 titles), to anyone who loves to read manga or watch anime and would love to do some storytelling of their own in the same style.
