PreS-K--A trio of cats in pink tutus demonstrates core ballet positions, while on the opposite page, a skeleton, also in ballet attire with a matching pink worm emerging from its eye socket, attempts to follow along. Slowly, a small, gray mouse appears and wreaks havoc, first by snatching the skeleton's leg, causing it to trip and its bones to rearrange themselves to comical effect. One of the cats spies the mouse, chases after it, and causes the trio to lose their poise and balance and tumble down. In the final spread, the cats (now bandaged) and skeleton once again assume fifth position, now accompanied by a new tiny dancer. The spookier elements, like the skeleton and eerie trees, contrast with the ballet theme and are alleviated by soft, rounded illustrations and pink and white hues that pop against the background. One side of the page names each ballet position, while the opposite page features the nursery rhyme and its Spanish equivalent. VERDICT A thematically unique nursery rhyme board book to add to bilingual collections. Recommended.--Jessica Agudelo
