Review by Booklist Review

As humans, we're always looking for guidance. Many mainstream religions have pat answers about what to do and what to avoid, which can seem comforting for awhile. A clear path to eternal bliss is appealing. Here, Khandro Rinpoche asks an important question: Does this work? Are we truly happy or at peace with ourselves as we follow a rigid path to salvation? Khandro Rinpoche explains simple concepts like the eightfold path, delving into what each part means and how to apply it to your life in terms that relate it to other religions (for instance, they are not unlike the Judeo-Christian Ten Commandments). Easily digestible contemplations throughout the book invite readers to consider how each section can enrich their lives, almost like a guided meditation. It is easy to see why Khandro Rinpoche is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher. She presents the basic principles of Buddhism in a clear, refreshing manner, making them accessible for all to understand.
