Review by Booklist Review

This collection of short stories gives readers a glimpse of mangaka Endo's career before he found success with his hugely popular series Spy x Family. One short story, "Blade of the Moon Princess," also shows the initial conception of another of Endo's series, which was reworked to become the multivolume series of the same name. Endo takes inspiration from Western classics for "Western Game," historical witch hunt obsessions for "Witch Craze," and a futuristic dystopia for "PMG-O." All four stories follow young heroines, many with exceedingly powerful kicks, fighting against gangs of bandits obsessed with guns, drugs, and murder. Devout fans of Endo's work will be intrigued to see the evolution of the mangaka's art style and some familiar tropes repeated in these earlier works. Some readers will appreciate the insights provided in the endnote from Endo after every story. This collection could be considered where Endo's works are popular and readers are still looking for more content.
