It's been nearly four decades since actor and beauty/style consultant Kibbe coauthored David Kibbe's Metamorphosis: Discover Your Image Identity and Dazzle as Only YOU Can, his first book of musings on personal style. Evolving to align with today's trends and insights, Kibbe's vision in this new guide emphasizes authenticity, the journey, and self-love. Readers play a number of games to establish their style foundation, leading to guidelines for color, cosmetics, and other typical beauty concerns for six different personae: dramatics, romantics, classics, naturals, gamines, and plus sizes (especially alongside the other terms, "plus size" could use some improvement as a descriptor). Illustrations comprise most of the book's specific how-to's, with photographs capturing before-and-afters. Expect lots of inspiring emotional support, reminding you you're a star and should celebrate yourself. This contemporary take on John T. Molloy's Dress for Success, with many complicated rules and guidelines, offers plenty for readers seeking fashion advice.
