Review by Library Journal Review

Brother and sister duo Bo (a writer) and Kathryn (a printmaker and mixed-media artist) share myriad ideas on how to recharge and experience wonder by connecting with nature in this attractive, charming book, illustrated with Kathryn's lovely color illustrations and including quotations and tidbits of information about the natural world. They suggest noticing insects, spiders and their webs, and the monarch butterfly's life cycle, then proceed to show how all is connected in nature, using pollination as an example. There's also foraging for edible plants and mushrooms, listening to the sounds of nature, and discovering the patterns found in the natural world. The book shares information about cloud types and rainbow formation and how to observe them, how to accept change (inspired by the phases of the moon, the tides, and the seasons), and learning how to orient oneself outside. The authors talk about the natural changes that have occurred over vast spans of time and how to rejuvenate oneself by getting immersed in nature, whether in the backyard or a wilderness area. They also share action steps, like planting sunflowers, trying a grounding technique, or performing a hiking meditation. VERDICT A beautiful book chock-full of information and suggestions for readers looking to mindfully connect with nature.--Sue O'Brien
