Review by Library Journal Review

The title of Turner's (The Fringe Hours; The Working Mom's Guide to Managing Stress and Thriving) newest book articulates a feeling most people have likely had when faced with unexpected losses and disappointments. Her disappointment was a huge one. Her husband came out as gay after 16 years of marriage and three children, and they went through a painful divorce. She had to get used to being a single mother. In a combination of memoir and self-help, Turner writes movingly of how hurt and scared she was having to reimagine the rest of her life, relating her story to setbacks and sudden changes that other people can face. The tone of the book is kind and reassuring, and the author makes many practical suggestions, such as trying new experiences alone when possible and being sure to take care of oneself by eating and sleeping properly. Turner also includes suggestions for list- and chart-making to help readers organize their thoughts and make plans for the future. VERDICT A solid self-help book that will be helpful to people in crisis and looking for direction. Primarily aimed at women.--Susan Cox
