Review by Booklist Review

Readers and viewers will be happy to see popular television weather presenter, journalist, and author Roker (You Look So Much Better in Person, 2020) once again presenting in the kitchen! Roker, who hosted a Food Network show and published two cookbooks in the early aughts, here shares happy memories of his family's home cooking, his childhood, and his career on television--of which many readers will share Roker's fond memories. Open about his struggles with managing his weight, Roker, with the help of his chef-daughter Laga, offers health-conscious dishes that are also accessible, practical, and straightforward for everyday home cooks: his mother's macaroni salad, mixed greens with ginger dressing, cornmeal fried shrimp. Recipes include pictures of finished dishes, and instructions and ingredients lists are broken up into easy-to-follow sections. Most fit on one page, can be completed in under an hour (with exceptions for more complex meals like short ribs), and contain familiar ingredients. With the richness and warmth of a father figure, Roker shares recipes straight from his family's home to the homes of his readers.
