"Only one will survive." These are the first words said in the reading of a will attended by eight friends in an old, rundown mansion on an isolated island. Kembral Thorne's friend Jaycel and her now-girlfriend Rika are just two of the participants in what turns out to be a dangerous, magical game of cat and mouse. It will take savvy Kembral and Rika to save their friends from traps, cursed magical relics, and, ultimately, death before time runs out. The second in Caruso's Echo Archives series (after The Last Hour between Worlds, 2024) is Knives Out with a magical twist. Readers will eagerly follow Kembral and Rika on the journey to solve this mystery and save their friends from an untimely death.
