Toddler-K--In this rhyming adventure, a baby spinosaurus hatches by a river, takes its first splash, and tries to catch a fish, only to get stuck among roots. Mama soon comes to the rescue, freeing the little dino just in time to splash and play once more. Abery's text is rhythmic and lively, using gentle repetition to enhance the read-aloud experience. Scott's illustrations are both vibrant and adorable, capturing the wide-eyed wonder of the dino protagonist. While the story follows a predictable pattern, the playful movement and bold visuals make it a delightful addition to dinosaur-themed board book collections. VERDICT A lively, cuddly read-aloud for young dino fans, full of rhythmic fun and prehistoric charm.
