K-Gr 2--A little girl is looking for a playmate; who will she find to have fun? Alma is impatiently waiting for Abuela to arrive so they can play together, so she goes out looking. Unfortunately, none of her family members seem to have time, so she'll have to think hard and figure out what to do. In this bilingual book, based on the PBS animated show produced by the author, the main character interacts with readers by asking questions and reacting to the answers. Although Alma's family's heritage isn't said outright, the story is set in the Bronx, and Manzano is a proud Puerto Rican. VERDICT A good purchase for libraries serving Spanish-speaking communities, especially those serving Puerto Rican communities.--Carolina Youssif
