On the night of her kidnapping, all Reyna wanted was a relaxing cup of tea. She didn't expect to be dropped in a hidden prison cell, but what the hells. She's flexible. With appropriate fanfare, Kianthe "rescues&...quot; her wife...but Reyna's actually a terrible damsel in distress. Even worse, Reyna's cell was booby trapped with a mysterious alchemy circle. What does a radical alchemist want with the Arcandor's wife? And why did they think they could get away with this? While they investigate, another problem surfaces in their hometown. Word of New Leaf Tomes and Tea-and its celebrity owners-has finally spread. Tourists are everywhere, harassing the locals and ruining the charm of Tawney. The finale of Thorne's Tea & Tomes series (after Tea You at the Altar, 2025) starts with a bang as new Queen Reyna has been kidnapped. In effecting her rescue, she and her wife Kianthe discover a suspicious alchemy circle. This kicks off a mystery as Kianthe must discover who is setting up these magical attacks. Meanwhile, the pair find that their adopted hometown of Tawney is being overrun by tourists hoping for a glimpse of the power couple. Could the best way to save Tawney be for them to leave? And will the sinister plans of the mysterious alchemist bring disaster? For a couple who'd much rather run their book and tea shop, it could prove too much stress for their relationship. But old friends and new allies are there to help. Readers of previous installments should find this a satisfying send off for the punny and much in love former guard and magician. Recommended for fans of Travis Baldree's works, cozy romances with a dash of adventure, and books with adorable griffin and baby dragon guest stars.

Thorne concludes her cozy, sapphic romantasy "Tomes & Tea" series with this follow-up to Tea You at the Altar, deepening the worldbuilding, introducing new characters and concerns, and showcasing her knack for creating atmosphere while maintaining a lively yet comforting narrative pace. Having gotten married, taken over a queendom, and built a life, Reyna and Kianthe should be all set. However, when Queen Reyna is abducted (and is more amused than alarmed by the undertaking), and Kianthe discovers that the source of her magical powers needs her attention, the two set off for new adventures--including discovering the history of their dragon neighbors, learning about the magic that underpins their world, and dealing with overtourism. At every turn, the two make decisions based on trust, community, and an abiding belief in the power of good. Reading this concluding volume, as well as the series as a whole, is a lovely experience, full of cozy cheer, puns, competence, love, and fun. Suggest to readers seeking comfort reading with well-crafted settings, action, detail, and heart. VERDICT An excellent ending to a defining series of warmth-filled romantasy.--Neal Wyatt
