Gr 1--3--In this series sequel, readers reunite with purple fuzzy monster Zoomi and her human friend Zoe as they experience big life changes. Zoomi has a new baby sister, and now Zoe's going to be a big sister, too! Haydu is readily attuned to young peoples' feelings about life's big transitions that she calls "turnarounds." The turnaround in this text is new baby siblings. Zoomi and Zoe want to be the best big sisters ever, so "Zoomi & Zoe's School For Babies" is now open! The goal: teach these babies how to be just like their big sisters. Along the way, there are more turnabouts and the best friends begin to wonder if a school is even needed. Young readers can identify with feelings of jealousy over Mom's attention and wonder why parents laugh when a baby farts, but not when they do it. They will also have fun pronouncing the silly, at times tongue-twisting vocabulary, like sibling Fizzle and the land of GlumbleGlibble. The story is enhanced by the author's thoughtful sensitivity in expressing human emotions. Appert's lovely digital watercolor illustrations depict the gentle magic of the world, and will help readers follow the plot. VERDICT A solid, heartwarming addition to early chapter book collections.--Cheryl Blevens
