Review by Booklist Review

It took the Sandy Hook tragedy to convince Watts that she needed to make some changes in her life. Married too young and hurled into motherhood, the author began to re-examine her life and her marriage, finally realizing that what was missing was the fire of ideals, ambitions, and goals. Forming "Moms Demand Action," a group to fight gun violence, she found what she was seeking. Now in this book, Watts has made a blueprint for finding that fire in other women. Using stories from other successful women as well as her own experiences, the author encourages readers to identify their passions, move ahead with confidence, and seek support when needed. Keeping with the fire metaphor, she teaches readers how to stoke the bonfire, prepare for blow-back, fight burnout, control the burn, and finally pass on the flame. Each chapter includes "light the match" exercises and "fan the flames" actions to get readers started on their own journeys. This is sure to be a much-needed jumpstart for women of all ages.
