After a very public family scandal, Emory Oakes escapes to Evergreen, the charming town where she once spent her happiest Christmas as a teenager. Her tarnished family name, however, quickly puts her at odds with the community. Stranded by a snowstorm, Emory unexpectedly finds herself back at the Wilder family ranch, where Tate Wilder, her first love, is still a central part of life and all of Emory's memories. As Emory and Tate reconnect during the holiday season, they must overcome the old wounds from their previous romance, which ended badly. Sparks fly, but Emory's past and her secrets threaten any possible rekindling. Emory's and Tate's characters feel genuine and draw readers into the homecoming story. The book is a wonderful choice for romance fans who enjoy themes of forgiveness and second chances in a satisfying love story. VERDICT McKay's (The Holiday Honeymoon Switch) latest is a tender and nostalgic romance set against a snowy backdrop of traditions and holiday magic.--Bridgette Whitt
