Adulting is hard--Emersyn Gray is learning this firsthand. Following her brother's death, Em is now guardian of his daughter. They live in an eclectic building named the Mirage, where they are the youngest tenants by several decades. Broke and jobless, Em is still furious with her ex-boyfriend for draining her bank account, and her best friend creates a business card for a fake detective agency, "Wyatt Investigations," in an attempt to scare him into giving the money back. During Em's confrontation with her ex, her ruse gets some unexpected back-up from a mysterious hottie who happens to be named Wyatt. Later, when the Mirage's creepy superintendent is murdered, the tenants find one of Em's fake business cards and ask her to investigate the killing. Now she's a newly minted amateur sleuth, fighting her attraction to the swoon-worthy Wyatt while investigating a murder mystery with many unexpected twists and turns. VERDICT Fox's ("Pancake House Mysteries") new romystery is sweet, funny, and a little sexy.
