The weekend crashers

Book - 2025

A knitting retreat gets knotty in this humorous and poignant novel about love, second chances, and the unyielding bonds between mothers and daughters. Maggie Hodges and her daughter Piper are looking forward to a restful knitting retreat in the picturesque village of New Hope, Pennsylvania. But instead, they are surprised to find themselves sharing their charming riverside inn with a rowdy bushcraft bachelor party. Undaunted by the clash of interests and personalities, Maggie suggests a lighthearted competition--a battle of crafts--that sparks a rivalry between the two groups, and perhaps something more. But as the weekend unfolds, old mistakes and buried resentments begin to surface, threatening to destroy Maggie and Piper's cherished... connection. In knitting, one can easily fix mistakes by picking apart each stitch and starting anew. But life's tangles aren't so easily mended. With tensions rising and the retreat coming to a close, Maggie must act quickly before she loses everything she holds dear. Can she repair what's been broken before everything unravels?

As a single mom, Maggie has always put her daughter Piper's needs before her own. Now that Piper is in her twenties and starting a modeling career, Maggie sees her less frequently, but still wants her daughter to have everything Maggie never did. After Piper falls on the catwalk at a very important fashion show, Maggie suggests that they attend a weekend knitting retreat at a picturesque inn in New Hope, Pennsylvania. When they show up, they learn that the inn has been double booked, with the other guests being a raucous group celebrating a bachelor party. Determined to make the most of the weekend, Maggie and Piper befriend the other women at the knitting retreat and even propose a friendly bet with the men of the bachelor party. As the weekend unfolds, Maggie and Piper come to realizations that redefine their relationship and help each of them determine what they want from their futures. This sweet, touching story will appeal to readers who enjoy heartfelt novels that center on women's relationships such as those by Kristy Woodson Harvey or Nancy Thayer.
