Impulsively, she decides to take a solo summer road trip, hoping that the journey will lead her down a path that will help her discover exactly what it is that she's searching for. Newly single mom Tallulah Byrd Mayfield is hanging by a thread after her neat, tidy world was completely undone when her husband decided that their marriage was over. In the aftermath of the breakup, she and her two daughters move in with her eighty-year-old grandfather. Tal...lulah starts a new job at the Forget-Me-Not Library, where old, treasured memories can be found within the books-and where Lu must learn to adapt to the many changes thrown her way. When a road detour leads Juliet to Forget-Me-Not, Alabama, and straight into Tallulah's life, the two women soon discover there's magic in between the pages of where you've been and where you still need to go. Welcome to Forget-Me-Not, AL, a quaint little town that has a tendency to help individuals who have lost their way. Juliet Nightingale is lost in more ways than one. Running from recent trauma (a lightning strike that killed her beloved grandfather and left her with memory loss), she is truly a wandering soul. When her car breaks down in Forget-Me-Not, Juliet has no choice but to stick around a while. It turns out that the town might be able to give her what she's been searching for--access to her lost memories, a purpose, healing, and an unexpected love. In Forget-Me-Not, she meets local library worker Tallulah Byrd Mayfield, a recently divorced mother of two small children, whose life is not turning out as she dreamed it would. She and Juliet form a strong friendship and discover that there is a certain kind of magic in learning from mistakes and embracing future possibilities, as the novel shows that nothing can be truly lost if one is open to finding happiness and hope again. VERDICT Webber's (A Certain Kind of Starlight) latest is a heartfelt, whimsical book of second chances, with memorable characters and a dash of magical realism. Recommended for readers who enjoy Stephanie Perkins, Fannie Flagg, and Karen Hawkins.--Linsey Milillo
