Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 2--5--Lucy López and her older sister Elena love playing games and spending time together, even though Lucy is in third grade and Elena is in fifth grade. When Elena attends a computer programming after-school club and spends time at home working on projects, Lucy becomes interested in learning to code, too. Lucy is confused when she begins to attend the programming camp and Elena's attitude toward her shifts. Elena even tells Lucy that computers are not "her thing." With her new friends in the camp--all of whom have their own quirks and hurdles-- Lucy begins to learn how to code and finds that she enjoys and is good at it. Why can't she and Elena enjoy it together? This relatable and pitch-perfect chapter book is full of relevant themes, such as after-school clubs, friendships, and what it means to be a good sister. Illustrations give readers a glimpse into Lucy's home and school life. Lucy's new friends are of diverse backgrounds and have different talents and interests. The Spanish translation is excellent, realistic, funny, and sure to keep kids reading. VERDICT A wonderful choice for Spanish-language chapter book collections, this title will have readers wanting to dive into the other series entries.--Selenia Paz
