PreS-K--Maisy's friend Charley has a loose tooth and feels nervous about his first visit to the dentist. Maisy and her friends want to support him, so they decide to accompany Charley to his appointment. While there, they learn all about the dentist. After sitting in the waiting room and meeting the dentist, Doctora Muerdebién, Maisy and Charley learn how the dentist's chair can go up and down, how to brush their teeth, and about X-rays. Cousins presents visiting the dentist as a fun and friendly experience rather than a scary one. This engaging story gently prepares readers for their own first dental visit and for a visit from the tooth fairy. It's a great addition to the "Maisy's First Experience" series. Cousins's signature font and bold, colorful illustrations will captivate young readers. Izquierdo's Spanish translation is well done and clear, while introducing new vocabulary. VERDICT This beloved and well-known series will be a delight to find in the children's Spanish section. A solid staple for any Spanish-language collection: reassuring, vibrant, and informative.--Yuliana Nguyen
